Each season American Heartland Theatre presents six Broadway-style productions that include comedies, musicals, dramas and mysteries featuring local, regional and national performers. The intimate space means no seat is more thatn 10 rows from the stage. AHT is a "theatre that belongs to the theatre of Kansas City!"

Since 1975 The Friends of Chamber Music has presented the world's finest chamer music to Kansas City Audiences. With and annual season of more than 20 performances featuring internationally acclaimed artists and ensembles, The Friends provides the highest-quality artisic experience for music lovers. Our school and administrative offices have parking in back and on Washington Street. Our performances are at the Lyric Theatre and there are several parking lots and off-street parking available there

Founded in 1957, Kansas City Ballet is a 25-member professional ballet company under the direction of Artistic Director William Whitener and Executive Director Jeffrey J. Bentley. Several parking garages and lots are just steps away from the Lyric Theatre, including the 10 Central Car Park, on 10th Street between Broadway and Central. Symphony subscribers may purchase pre-paid parking vouchers in advance from our Box Office and park in this garage for half price.

Under the dynamic leadership of acclaimed Music Director Michael Stern, The Kansas City Symphony performs a wide variety of subscription, educational, touring and outreach concerts. The orchestra's 80 full-time musicians are area residents and vital contributors to the artistic life of Kansas City. During its 42-week season, the Symphony presents Classical, Pops and Family and Holiday concerts. In addition, the KCS performs with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and the Kansas City Ballet.

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, a new multi-venue center for music, opera, theater, and dance designed by Moshe Safdie will open in Kansas City on September 16, 2011. The Kauffman Center seeks to enrich the lives of all Greater Kansas City residents by presenting vibrant and diverse performances, educational programming, and creating a tradition of the performing arts as a catalyst for Kansas City’s civic economic, and educational vitality.  Three of the region’s leading performing arts organizations – Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City – will be in residence at the Kauffman Center. The Kauffman Center’s two performance venues, the 1,800-seat Muriel Kauffman Theatre and the 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall, will offer audiences engaging and intimate experiences, while at the same time providing resident companies with enhanced performance capabilities.

Starlight Theatre presents live Broadway musicals and concert entertainment each spring and summer. Located on 16 acres in Kansas City's Swope Park, Starlight is an outdoor theatre that seats approximately 8,000 people. This landmark theatre is operated by the not-for-profit Starlight Theatre Association, Kansas City's oldest and largest performing arts organization. Founded in 1974, Unicorn Theatre produces professional contemporary, thought-provoking theatre. Unicorn Theatre is under the artistic and executive leadership of Producing Artistic Director Cynthia Levin, who joined the company in 1980. From a newly expanded home in Midtown the Unicorn houses two stages - The Mainstage and The Jerome Stage (added 2007). A fully professional not-for-profit theatre, the Unicorn operates under agreement with the Actor's Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States. The Unicorn is a founding member of the National New Play Network, an alliance of not-for-profit professional theatres that champions the development, production and continued life of new plays for the American theatre; and is a constituent member of Theatre Communications Group, Inc., the national service organization for the not-for-profit theatre.

The UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance is nationally recognized as a center for artistic excellence, innovation, and engagement with our community of about 2 million in more than 300 concerts, recitals, performances, and events throughout the year.  In rehearsals, in class, and on stage, our students interact with an exceptionally gifted faculty and with leading visiting artists in ways that are supportive, yet rigorous.
